The Miracle of Life
Ahamiraa -12/7/07

Life is an adventure at best. Each quest takes us down a different road. To maneuver down some roads we need all the patience and faith we can muster. Other roads are filled with excitement, encouragement and hope. And if we are very lucky we could experience a miracle from time to time.

As most of you know I was forced to make one of the hardest decisions of my life. Our very brave Spartan had suffered from the results of founder for a long, long time. The day he could no longer walk to me for his treats was the day I knew I had to let him go. I thought my heart would surely break, he had given me so much, what could I possibly give to him before I let him run free. I found the perfect gift, I would let him breed one last time and it was one of those special times that you knew you had done the right thing.

On December 19, 2006, a warm winter day, Dr. Jamie Kerr blocked his front feet and for the first tune in many years, Spartan felt no pain. He was the young, virile stallion we all knew and loved. He covered his mare without a hitch and life for him, at that moment, was perfect.

On December 7, 2007 our miracle appeared at the dawn of a beautiful winter morning. The essence of Spartan lived on. His filly was here, the product of his last breeding and the absolute joy of my life. She has his loving, curious spirit and she has brought so much happiness to our barn. She is loved and spoiled by everyone and she truly knows she is a miracle. Ahmiraa, Spartan’s Princess, rules her domain, knowing her royal blood will live on forever.

Whenever I feel life is a little too tough, I think of Ahmiraa and I am reminded that miracles come in many different ways and I have been so blessed to have my own miracle running with the spirit of her father guiding her every stride.
